Mission
The DMC Collective mission is to deliver exceptional, well-planned events that make a positive contribution to society and contribute to a more sustainable future. We aim to manage our operations with pioneering environmental practices and social responsibility at their core. We execute this whilst also maintaining a realistic set of goals that we know we can achieve by bearing in mind the effect our events can have on the environment
The Green DMC Collective Mindset
Green DMC Collective is a group of passionate individuals within our office who ensure we are on track towards our environmental and sustainability goals. As a company, and as individuals, we fully understand that caring for our environment is fundamental to assuring a sustainable future for all, in keeping with The UN Global Goals For Sustainable Development.
This impacts how we manage the day-to-day operations of the offices, how we manage events and our relationships with partners, clients and suppliers.
We believe in making real changes in small steps; working from the ground upwards. These changes have been and continue to be derived from a genuine concern and care for the planet.
This bottom-up approach is really key to the Green DMC Collective mindset. It ensures that with all current and new business, the values that Green DMC Collective embodies are shared with all those who work with us.
Business Summary
The DMC Collective is a sustainable events company, delivering a portfolio of client events, which are green and socially responsible.
We aim to leave behind a better environmental legacy by:
Complying with all relevant existing environmental legislation
Scope This policy covers:
As a company, we want to embody our values and ensure that our own practice as a company supports our aims. We have a strong sense of the ‘DMC Collective way’ of doing business and everything from our staff engagement, to our office building right down to our kettle plays a part in this. As an agency, every event we work on is different, with different clients, priorities, locations, and suppliers. Our sustainable approach is tailored to each specific situation. For this reason, we do not set out here a rigid set of requirements as a one size fits all approach to such diverse events would be too vague to be practical. Instead, we provide clear guiding principles that aid our planning and decisions.
Environmental Policy
We are committed to having the lowest possible negative impact on the natural world, and endeavour to make a net positive contribution by:
1. Waste Minimisation and Resource Recovery
2. Water and Energy Use
Events can be high water and energy consumers. It is important to develop and implement measures to minimise water and energy consumption and to communicate these measures to participants and stallholders. This will be achieved by adopting the following practices:
3. Equipment and Supplies
Equipment and supplies made of resource intensive materials can often travel large distances before finally being put to use. Transport (and therefore distances travelled) is a major contributor to greenhouse gas emissions. It is essential to consider the lifecycle of equipment and supplies associated with an event to ensure sustainable purchasing decisions are made. This can be done through the following:
4. Transportation
Transport is a major contributor to greenhouse gas emissions. There are a range of sustainable transport alternatives available for organisers and event participants. These include the following:
The team recognises the value in existing relationships, and where possible works with existing stakeholders to make the changes required to meet the above.
5. Carbon measurement and accountancy
The DMC Collective will undertake carbon analysis of company operations, our property and event- by-event on ongoing basis, and compensate through robust initiatives, with the aim of being carbon net positive.
6. Ethical supply chain Our company
We apply a sustainable approach to all our procurement for our company and client events, asking:
7. Continuous Improvement
The DMC Collective recognises that reducing impacts is an on-going process of improvement, and that resource and budget constraints will necessitate a pragmatic approach and prioritisation. However, we are committed to a process of reviewing our performance after every event and annually in order to identify successes and improvements, informing changes to strategy.
